New Roof Construction

INSTALLING A NEW ROOF

While our Roof Systems are ideal for Commercial Roof Restoration, they are also a great option for New Construction. “Spray On” or Spray Applied Roofing has recently gained popularity when designing new buildings.

With the expertise of our Manufacturers, we work closely with Architects and General Contractors to provide helpful information about Spray Foam Systems when Project Specifications are being written. We also offer “courses” with AIA/CEU credits…ask us about our Lunch and Learns!

Whether you’re interested in Coated Foam or just Coated Roof Systems, consider the following benefits for New Construction.

BENEFITS OF A SPRAY APPLIED ROOF FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION

  • SPRAY APPLIED ROOFS ARE LONG-LASTING

The normal wear of a quality Roof Coating has a warranted lifespan of 10-20 years. Properly maintained systems can last anywhere from 25-30 years! The Roof Coating can be applied (or reapplied) over any aged roof system, making this system completely renewable.

  • SPRAY APPLIED ROOFS ARE AFFORDABLE

Although the initial cost of the Spray Applied Roof can be higher than other roofing systems, it is guaranteed to pay for itself with the energy savings it produces. The renewable properties it offers (that eliminate roof replacement every 10-15 years) are additional factors to consider when calculating cost/value.

  • SPRAY APPLIED ROOFS HAVE LITTLE DISRUPTION TO BUILDING OWNER

A Spray Applied Roof System can be applied in a relatively short period of time with minor disruption to building operations. There is often little to no tear-off required and the applicator’s equipment setup is minimal, but efficient.

  • SPRAY APPLIED ROOFS ARE SEAMLESS

There are no joints or seams to allow water and air to pass through the roof system into the building structure. It is a completely monolithic application.

  • SPRAY APPLIED ROOFS ELIMINATE FLASHING LEAKS

Because spray applied products conform to the substrate when installed, these seamless systems are ideal for flashing parapet walls, equipment, skylights, and cooling towers. Many roof leaks are caused by faulty flashing… Spray Applied Roofs solve this problem.

  • SPRAY APPLIED ROOFS ELIMINATE PONDING WATER

Ponding water may be eliminated by adding an increased thickness of roof insulation (Spray Foam) in low areas–building up these areas and sloping the roof so that it drains properly. It also helps reduce additional weight load caused by water accumulation.

  • SPRAY APPLIED ROOFS ARE LIGHTWEIGHT

One inch of Spray Polyurethane Foam roofing weighs approximately 60 pounds per 100 square feet. This is considerably less when compared to a conventional, built-up roof system. This makes a Spray Foam System ideal for re-roofing, as it is possible to apply over an existing built-up roof without removing it or adding too much weight.

  • SPRAY APPLIED ROOFS ARE RIGID

Although Spray Applied Roofs are lightweight, they are also very strong and will not pack down or sag. With the elastomeric top coat, this roof is built to sustain harsh weather conditions and age with ease.

  • SPRAY FOAM ROOFS HAVE THE HIGHEST “R” VALUE

With an “R” value of 6.2 – 6.5, these roof systems provide more thermal resistance with less material than any other roof insulation. In most cases, a Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) Roof will pay for itself with 5-8 years in energy savings.

  • SPRAY APPLIED ROOFS EXTEND THE LIFE OF THE BUILDING

By insulating the roof deck (and applying an elastomeric topcoat), damage due to thermal expansion and contraction is eliminated. When the foam and coating is applied, it bonds to the structure. It remains flexible, moving with the structure underneath and helping enhance the structure’s strength.

  • SPRAY APPLIED ROOFS ARE EASY TO MAINTAIN

Minor repairs or modifications to a Spray Foam Roof system can be made by qualified Roof Maintenance Technicians at minimal cost. Proper annual maintenance on these Systems can extend their life 5-10 years!

  • SPRAY APPLIED ROOFS HAVE GREAT VERSATILITY

Spray Applied Roofs can be used on both new construction and to replace old roofs. Because of their unique properties, Spray Foam and Coating can be applied to flat, pitched, saw-toothed, or domed roofs, as well as those with unusual slopes or configurations. Spray foam is also an ideal application for insulating tanks, freezers, piping, ductwork, and various other projects.
